Platypus Water Bottles Are Great

I’ve been trying out a new water bottle today, looking for one that doesn’t have bisphenol A leaching into the water.

My requirements for a new bottle are:

  1. No bisphenol A leaching
  2. convenient and easy to use
  3. car cup holder size
  4. kid friendly
  5. able to take on walks and camping
  6. cheap

The one liter platypus water bottles I just received from Amazon do the job nicely. They were originally designed for hikers and are part of an entire modular hydration system. They are lightweight plastic with enough structure to easily stand upright but are flexible enough to be rolled up like a newspaper when empty. One unexpected benefit of these bottles is that water stored inside of them doesn’t taste of plastic at all even after hours of sitting at my desk. Laura Moser at Slate gave them a very good review too. They cost $6.95 each at Amazon and are a good buy in my opinion.
