McCain Predicts Pennsylvania Win

I’ve said before that I think this is unlikely.  In conversations with Republicans across Pennsylvania over the past few months, most Republicans, including most evangelical Republicans I spoke with, plan to sit out this year’s Presidential election.  In fact, I’ve heard more Republicans state that they will vote for Obama than I’ve heard state that they will vote for McCain.

Outside of the Washington bubble, most people think of “old” and “war” when they think of McCain.  (That may be ageistic and/or unfair, but that is what I hear most often, especially from older Republicans.)  What they want to hear about is “change,” “prices,” and “economy.”  Neither Obama nor McCain seems to have found a good way to connect on the economy yet, but Obama is at least “change.”  Oh, and support for the war or patience for foreign policy talk beyond “out of Iraq” is essentially nonexistent.
