Palin's 'Savagery'

Blake Dvorak is absolutely wrong about the utility and scientific validity of wolf bounties. Simply because an AP wire story has a he said-she said framework on this story does not mean that serious wildlife biologists who are not bound to goals of increasing trophy moose hunting dollars in Alaska actually think that this is legitimate. There simply is no place in 21st century wildlife management for bounties on wolves, and this isn’t just me saying this. The overwhelming majority of biologists outside of the Alaska Dept. of Game would agree. So, if you’re wondering why there aren’t thousands of wolves roaming the lower 48 any more, these same bounties more than a hundred years ago are why. What century are we in?

The Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund aren’t impressed with Sarah Palin: OK, about that $150 bounty. Wildlife activists have been upset about that since the Palin administration put it into effect…
