Rendell Lauds Launch of First Cellulosic Ethanol Plant in Pennsylvania

Coskata broke ground today in Madison, Pennsylvania on a $25 million dollar plant that will produce 40,000 gallons of ethanol per year for $1 per gallon.  The biotechnology behind the company does not rely on corn.  Corn-based biofuel production is being blamed for the current run up in food prices and subsidies for its production [...]

The Race Vote in Pennsylvania

Yesterday I was interviewed by Pete Dominick, host of Pete’s Big Mouth, on Sirius Radio.  He led off his series of questions about Pennsylvania and the PA primary with a question about whether some Democrats voted for Clinton because of Obama’s race. I know some of them did, because quite a few of them [...]

Thank You

I want to thank all of you for following the Pennsylvania primary with us. Many of you reading this blog took the time to let us know your thoughts on the race, the candidates and the issues, and that’s always helpful.
We’ve had a number of very talented writers of all ages and political stripes [...]

Polling guru Mark Blumenthal Neatly Summarizes PA Polling of Late

Mark Blumenthal wraps up Pennsylvania polling with a few well-thought remarks at Pollster.com.  His conclusion after reviewing all of the latest polls and pollsters:

It’s well written and worth a read.

Representatives Jason Altmire and Mike Doyle Attend Obama Rally in Pittsburgh

One of the reasons why many speculate that Obama has more superdelegates lined up to vote for him than his current list of pledged super delegates is due what I witnessed during last night’s Obama rally in Pittsburgh’s Petersen Events Center.
Both Jason Altmire and Mike Doyle sat in the VIP section of the event. [...]

Latest Pennsylvania Primary Polls

The latest and final Quinnipiac University poll of the Pennsylvania primary puts Clinton ahead by 7.  The Q-Pac poll is probably the gold standard of polling in Pennsylvania.
Clinton 51
Obama 44
That’s essentially unchanged since last week when Clinton was at 50 and Obama at 44.
White voters: Clinton 57, Obama 38
Black voters: Obama 84, Clinton 10
Women: Clinton [...]

Latest Pennsylvania Primary Poll from MSNBC/McClatchy/Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

In the latest Pennsylvania primary poll out this morning, we see a continuation of the trend lines of other recent polls.
Clinton 48
Obama 43
Margin of Error 4%
However, in looking at the undecideds, things look less rosy for Obama.  Most of the undecideds in the poll lie in favorable Clinton country, among groups like gun owners, bowlers [...]

Absolutely Brilliant Undercover Philadelphia Campaign Reporting

Tom Namako’s piece from the Philly City Paper is a great read.  His experience mirrors my own in dealing with the Pittsburgh Clinton campaign office — the missed phone calls, the locked doors, and the stagecraft.  It just perpetuates the dissonance problem that Clinton’s image faces and strikes me as dismissive and condescending.
My first task [...]

Pennsylvania Primary Results Will Not Sway Superdelegates

No matter how important we in Pennsylvania may think our primary on April 22nd is to the Democratic Presidential nomination, it will have little impact among the Democratic Party superdelegates.  In speaking to a great many of the undecided superdelegates, USA Today and Gannett News Service say that
Dozens of uncommitted superdelegates with sway over the [...]
